MORE OF THE UPCOMING BLUEPRINT 3: BROOKLYN GO HARDok if you know me you know i hate on jay z harder more than neo nazis. But thus far the 2 singles are my favorite Jay tracks ever. Of course I would never say I was wrong. So I'll only offer this insight: I find it no coincidence that Kanye and shortly Lupe release what will likely be 2 of the most historic albums ever as well as LEAD the new age hip hop parade down broad street and all of a sudden Jay Z is pushed to create quality.

Kanye West Says He's 'Voice Of This Generation'
LONDON - Kanye West is to music what Michael Jordan was to basketball _ at least that's what West thinks, in his humble estimation.
"I realize that my place and position in history is that I will go down as the voice of this generation, of this decade, I will be the loudest voice," he said in an interview on Wednesday. "It's me settling into that position of just really accepting that it's one thing to say you want to do it and it's another thing to really end up being like Michael Jordan."
The Grammy-winning rapper-producer said Justin Timberlake had a chance to be music's MVP, but hasn't put out enough material. (Timberlake's last album was in 2006, while West released a CD last year and is releasing his latest _ "808s and Heartbreak" _ on Nov. 24.)
"There were people who had the potential to do it but they went on vacation, so when Justin went on vacation I made albums," he said. "And it just came out to be that."
West, 31, said life has been difficult since his mother's death. Donda West died last November after having plastic surgery.
"I'm just going through balancing that. And I always used to have that support system, you know. My mom would be there; no matter what, she was there before everything," he said. "We were together for like 30 years. And you know now when I'm on that stage and I look out and I say, 'What am I going to do with the rest of my life?' Like when does a real life start?' Because I have sacrificed real life to be a celebrity and to give this art to people, which is great. It is great that I was able to do that, I'm not trying to shun that in any way, but it's definitely a Catch-22 and it's bittersweet."-AP
Album Review: Q-Tip's The Renaissance
Q-TIP: The Renaissance - the Sunday Times review

It’s not The Low End Theory, but to measure Q-Tip’s new solo album against A Tribe Called Quest’s 1991 masterpiece (as some are) seems unfair. Its gestation has been, even by his standards, a long one, but the wait proves worth it. Listen to that piano, working discordantly to subvert Johnny Is Dead’s verses; to the Obama-sampling Shaka; to the simultaneously fly and catatonic grooves of Gettin’ Up; to the almost sectionably odd Norah Jones duet, Life Is Better; to the Midnight Marauders- recalling Won’t Trade You. One-third of one of hip-hop’s most innovative acts, Tip stays true to TCQ’s jazz-rap-fusing and socially conscious ethos, imagining love across the US-Iraq divide on the spare funk of We Fight/Love, and coercing D’Angelo to make vocal magic on I Believe. Wonderful stuff.

THE WANNABE III...
I see you jockin jay z jockin jay z. Yes, with emphatic alliteration the upcoming "Blueprint III" has leaked its first single like a hungover induced diarrhea. Unlike hangover shits, the single "Jockin Jay Z" is very enjoyable. Of course, it could just be called "produced by Kanye West" if it really needed positive reviews, a nice catch, and juicy beat. Oh wait, it does. Despite my distaste for the man, Jockin Jay Z WILL be on my list of short lived anthems just because I can't help it. Even though Jay Z joined the jamming industry by jockin biggy jockin biggy jockin jockin jockin biggy, apparently enough time has passed and enough records have sold for everyone to now think were stealing jay z's trends. Im not sure which ones they are but I for one will admit to finally jockin jay z's jockin jay z single... with baited breath for upcoming December album release.

I stumbled upon 2pac's Resurection on vh1 this evening. It really exposes the artists for the amazing, talented, and missed star that he is. There is a lot that can be said about why he was killed, who killed him, and what may have happened to America, and maybe to a greater extent the world, if he and biggie had not been killed. However, of all of the emerging and shining stars in rap's history, 2pac must stand alone. While I personally find biggie's rapping style more appreciable, 2pac came from the dirty gutter that rap prides itself on and learned from his mistakes, the mistakes of his culture, the effects his genre of music was having on his people, and the greater power rap culture was having on American society. He recognized how powerful this tool of rap was and ultimately learned how dangerous that tool was to others. He was brilliant, charismatic, extremely eloquent, and incredibly insightful. Were it not for him I think it would be hard to say that many of the modern hip hop shakers and bakers--the true hip hop artists (okayplayer affiliates bascially)--would have been inspired to become and proliferate the tasteful, cultural-conscious, respected, forward moving, and proactive fleet of artists they are. I just really respect this man and think his legacy is not what it should be. Needless to say, 2pacs greatest hits was my first album purchase EVER and i still think it is, although being a compilation, one of the best albums ever. In light of the momentous state our country is in I thought the original CHANGES should get a shout:

I can't express my delight in Kanye's recent announcement. Not only had he decided to release a new album this year (December originally) but he has now upped the release date to mid November. I'll take this post to say express how happy that makes me. I love music. And appreciate it nearly every genre except McCain music (country). But as far as I'm concerned everyone in the industry in one way or another is striving towards this man. Go on with your bad self. Be as arrogant as you want. If you weren't aware he set an iTunes record for single sales with "LoveLockdown". Which everyone just hates so much....
I dont waste time. i gotta get-get on it.
THE VERSES ARE PHENOMENAL. I LOVE LUDACRIS. SO UNDERRATED. SO CAPABLE.
