Nike Presents Onwards

Onwards from AKQA on Vimeo.

Late is always better than never and although this isn't breaking news, it's still straight fire.

If you like sports, Kenna, Lance Armstrong, ill shit, the color yellow or aesthetically pleasing short cinema - this is dedicated to you.

Artist James Jarvis worked on an interesting new film project, entitled “Onwards”. One of his characters is featured in the short movie, running in a non-linear environment.

“I had become interested in the idea of characters that were less referential and more iconic and abstract. I particularly wanted to do something with a potato-headed stick-man that I had been drawing at that time.

The film was inspired by certain personal experiences in running – a favourite run over Blanchland moor in Northumberland, being attacked by a crow in Singapore – and also by the transcendent, almost psychedelic experience of the simple act of running.

Rather than a marketing project inititated by Nike, the film was something proposed and produced by myself, and as such I hope represents a much more equal collaboration with a brand.”

INTRODUCING NEW NIKE: AIR ZENYTH

In March 2009 Nike will be introducing a couple of new sneaker styles, that combine heritage and modern technology with up to date looks. One of the sneakers to be released is the Air Zenyth.

Suede, leather and Nike’s rip-stop nylon combines to make the Air Zenyth. Its visible shoe airbag touches on elements from the Air Max One released in 1987 but is held within a more refined shape. Welded logos, a button down tongue and comfort sock liner work together on this to form a contemporary low top built for everyday wear.

The Nike Air Zenyth will release next year and is coming in three colorways.

THESE ARE SO MEAN THEY'LL FLIP YOUR MUG: NIKE AIR FORCE III

The House of Hoops recently put out these exclusive Nike Air Force III in Charlotte Hornets colors. The upper features a white base with blue and purple pin stripes running along the toe area and the heel. On a few pieces of the shoe, 3M is used along with blue and purple accents. One other notable detail is the translucent purple outsole rounding off the nice package. This sneaker can only be purchased at the House of Hoops in Harlem but rumors of an LA House of Hoops has been floating around but until it opens, this shoe is a NYC HoH exclusive.

Nike Fall: Air Structure, Air Max BW, Air Max 90

More of Nike's Fall collection is being released.   These might be some of my favorite Nike's up to date.  The Air Structure, Air Max BW and Air Max 90.   I'd like to say which is my favorite but I would really prefer just to have each.  The Air Structure needs to be lifted to its proper place.  I wish these were out for the summer...

STEEZ-TASTIC!!! of course for women only

Introducing the Rockstar Workout some years back, Nike’s goal was to incorporated popular music into a workout for women which eventually launched a fitness dance revolution. Maintaining this theme, Nike designed the Air Troupe Mid featuring a hip-hop/break dance influence. With 2 years of research in the making, designer Ann-Marie Paz created a silhouette designed with all the attributes necessary for a true hip-hop dance shoe without sacrificing looks. The Air Troupe offers a high top designer feel with utmost flexibility and comfort. Adding in a non-slip rubber sole and lightweight uppers make for a winning formula.

Nike Air Flight Lite oooooweeeee

I love me some Nikes

and these is Nike.  I prefer the whites

"Set for its comeback later this year, another colorway has surfaced regarding the Nike Air Flight Lite. While previous styles revealed a black/purple colorway, seen here is a predominately white colorway marked by bits of neon in small doses."

Nike Air Max 90 Burger by Olle Hemmendorff

Olle Hemmendorff was commissioned, together with 7 other creatives/designers/photographers/artists, by Nike to interpret a Nike Sportswear icon. He got the Air Max 90 and decided to turn it into a hamburger.
You can see all 8 pieces at the 1912 space inside Sneakersnstuff in Stockholm, Sweden. I’m just curious if he makes a fresh one every … minutes.

Live Together, Play Together

When i discovered this on one of my tapes buried between rap videos and interviews, it was like a beam of light shining through dark clouds.

I don’t give a crap what anyone says. Wieden + Kennedy and Nike made Spike the household name that he is and was back in the 1990’s.

Here’s one of the multiple edits of the Air Raid commericals that were circulating at that time. This one plays off of what Spike did in Do The Right Thing with dudes of different colours hurling racially-fueled insults at each other. Definitely a bold move, but it stays right in line and still doesn’t detract from the product.

I wish I had all the old Barkley, Bo and Jordan commercials though.

Another installment of Nike's Hyperdunk campaign.  I think they're hilarious.  And anything that can allow me to score in basketball makes me happy because i dont got game.  Prepare for the extremely anticipated but probably overhyped hyperdunk release this year by Nike
