kanye you a genius for this one.
Say what you want about the pretentious, arrogant, bachelor of the world, but denying Kanye West is like fighting gravity. The man is approaching the Decade mark and he is still pulling tricks, not only musically, but theatrically. Surprise album, surprise song, and the passion this guy performs and works with blows any and everything out of the water. He influences music, yea. But what about fashion, style, design, culture, whites, blacks, green, I don't care. Big brother was humorous to me. Jay z will never be what Kanye is to the world right now. Fuck america, fuck blacks. This man sits atop his own globe right now and it doesn't look like hell be passing the title. Ever. Here is another issue of his Lovelockdown. Clearly referencing his recent breakup with sweet thang designer Alexis Phifer. The beat says it. The lyrics tell it. December will likely be the Don's most important release ever.

was that even hip-hop? and how can you not deny kanye but still continually deny H-O-V? the man has a motherfucking LANE named after him on parkways!
was that hip hop? what is hip hop. hip hop is the 200mph heat guided missle that rap and politics shat out. hip hop, like kanye, stands alone. depending on where you look it up, i think youll find that hip hop is a cultural movement. not a genre. and thats what kanye is. he represents the handful of artists that laid the platform in the rap world for him to stand on. artists that made their lyrics stand out more in their music videos than their necklace. shit they dont even care about music videos. because the only place anyone sees them is on MTV. and if youre catching your music on MTV youre already part of the problem. MTV's music playlists is probably more polluted than the Bush administration at this point. and how is the poster boy of rap as far as MTV is concerned. You got it Miz. H O V. The jigga man isnt an icon. He merely slipped into Biggies slip stream. Now i wont deny his prowess. Lyricism. Semi cute girlfriend. But in my eyes, hes comparable to Diddy. And you might want to deny that, but p did, puff daddy, p diddly squat, whatever is responsible for just as if not much more success than J. Diddy IS the one responsible for Biggy's success. Along with 12341 other artists. It could be argued that Diddy and Co even helped create the mega platform that shot rap into the worlds spotlight. Im to his involvement in the east/west battle that without doubt created rap's first public media playground. But, as biggy says, you either slingin crack rock or got a whicked jump shot, and being Biggy's right hand man and seeing how rap created (and ended) his life, he saw the opportunity rap gives. And he cashed in. Thats what Jay did. He cashed in. And thats how I always saw it. Always will see it. He didn't grow up wanting to be music icon. Wanting to inspire. He wanted "in". Hes just a rapper, the best rapper that could slip into Biggies slip stream after the man was wiped off the map. He produced music just to make money. His style changed with the times. Kanye style became the style of the time. His fashion, his music, his entire production method. His egotistical character. I give Jay his due, but he is not Kanye. And by the way, Nas is better than jay z. Nas didnt sell out. He didnt need the big production. If he wasnt so fucking lazy he would have taken over like rap tsunami. He doesnt need or care for the fame or glory. Jay prides himself on being Steve Austin. Great. Nice bank account. But if thats all you have at the end of the day what are you. Kanye loves the money, but thats not what it all means to him. Kanye made it cool to have his mom in the picture. Kanye made freshtodeath more important than... death. All of a sudden Jay's jeans are imported and the man buys his first suit. Thats all kanye.
J has his own lane named after him. And probably inspired a lot of drug dealers. And if thats what makes you the greatest than shit. But thats why i almost boycotted biggy at one point. (i dropped that fight after 29 hours when i realized he is the greatest lyricist ever) Kanye can sleep at night knowing he inspires. He has taken hip hop culture and made it his culture. Jay z never embodied rap. he was just the front runner. but so is Palin. that doesnt make her the greatest. neither does making top selling records every year for 10 years. that just shows whats fucking pathetic with the donkey-esque rap community sucking up blindly anything. but ill say it one more time. JAY Z IS ONE OF THE BEST RAPPERS EVER. but Nas is his superior. I respect nasir. i dont respect jayz. i cant say it any other way. jay z represents the gutter rap. i look down on him for trying to just be the ultimate wheaties commercial. he didnt take his genre anywhere. he just rose to the top of the pile.
kanye evolved the music he made. its not just his lyrics, which ill always thing are underrated, but his entire musical style. his performance ideals. his strive for not just excellence and perfection, but always always always something new. better? YES. if were not evolving. if were not changing. if were not moving forward were nothing.
thank you, that should be a post in itself.
agreed, post more of your own thoughts. That's more interesting and engaging! regurgatating articles and video's just wont fly. Video's fine but at least add your own thoughts to them!
