A GENERAL, CHAIRMAN OF THE JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF, AND NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR.... MAYBE HE KNOWS WHAT HES TALKING ABOUT
Colin Powell Endorses Obama On Meet the PressAppearing on MSNBC's 'Meet the Press', former Secretary of State Colin Powell endorsed Barack Obama for president
Powell criticized his own Republican Party for what he called its "narrow focus" on personal attacks.
“I look at these kind of approaches to the campaign, and they trouble me,” Powell said about accusations that Obama was a Muslim and his alleged link to Ayers. “Over the last seven weeks, the approach of the Republican Party has become narrower and narrower.”
Although Powell made a contribution to McCain's campaign when it began, Powell endorsed Obama in the appearance and said he hasn't understood McCain’s judgement over the course of the campaign, especially his selection of Gov. Sarah Palin.
“I don’t believe Palin is ready to be president of the United States,” Powell said.
"I think Obama is a transformational figure, he is a new generation coming onto the world stage, onto the American stage, and for that reason I will be voting for Senator Barack Obama," Powell told Tom Brokaw.
